General Information:

Please do not submit copyrighted family crests, company logo artwork, or photos from a commercial site or photographer unless you have permission to do so. Also, if you search for your family crest or graphic on-line, select the largest, highest resolution image possible. The image will not be printable if is small with a low screen resolution. If we aren't able to make the image work, we will let you know.

When we say we will "crop" or "zoom in" or "give a brownish antique cast" we mean that we will do this with camera or software techniques only. We will not cut, mark, or alter your photograph or graphic in any way. Your photo or graphic will be returned in the package with your Keepsakes. If you send your image by email, we assume you have kept an original copy on your own computer or disc, and will not re-send it back to you.

If you are sending a black and white photo for an antique-look keepsake or urn, we will give the image a brownish tone to match the brown text and borders. If you prefer the image as it is, in black and white tones, you may tell us your preference below. We will then change the brown borders and text to black or deep gray, unless you tell us otherwise.

If you are sending a color photo, our artists may change the colors of the text and border to reflect and enhance your photo. If you have preferences of color, you can tell us below.

Please note: We reserve the right to refuse any photo, graphic, or text at any time for any reason. If you think the content might be of questionable taste, or promotes an ideology that is violent, racist, sexist, malicious, irresponsible, or with criminal content of any kind, it is probable that Woodland Kilns will not accept it.

Sending by Email:

If you have a higher resolution digital photo, or access to a scanner, you can send your photo or graphic by email.

Resolution is important!

If you send a Display Resolution image (such as one taken off the internet) of 72 or 96, the resulting image on your Keepsake will be fuzzy or pixilated in appearance. Scan your photograph at Printer Resolution of 150 or 300. A scan of a larger portrait type photo at a resolution of 300 may be too large of a file size for you to submit by email. If we will be reducing the size to fit on your Keepsake or Urn, 150 resolution is fine. If we will be zooming in and blowing up your image, then 300 is better. If you want to zoom in on your pet's face, but it is only an inch big in the photo, it is best to zoom in and enlarge it as you scan it.

We can accept a number of image file types. To keep it simple, in your scanning program, save as a TIFF file (filename.tif)
You might want to Print your image, to be sure it appears crisp and about the size (or larger) of the item you are ordering.

If you don't know what we're talking about - and don't want to know! - feel free to email with questions, or just email it to us with a question "will this work?" We're only a click away, and will let you know. Or simply send by postal mail and let us do the work for you. Your order will be placed in queue as soon as it is submitted on-line, so we may almost be ready to start making your Keepsakes by the time your photograph arrives in the mail, anyway!

Sending by Postal Mail:

Please do not send your only copy of a photograph, family crest, church building ink drawing, or other graphic through the mail. Most mail is delivered safely and in good condition - which is phenomenal considering the volume the U.S. Postal Service handles - but we don't want yours to be the exception. The mail can get dropped in a puddle of water or rained on, become bent or creased, or be completely lost. We've seen it all.

Woodland Kilns cannot be held responsible for the state of your photo or graphic when it arrives.

Please do:

Send only photos you have extra copies of, or have the negative of. Or, even small Print Shops can make a great copy of your photograph or family crest for a buck or two. (Don't just use a copier unless your graphic is sharp and pure black.)
Put your photo or graphic in a Ziploc baggy or wrap well in plastic to protect it from those puddle baths.
Insert sturdy cardboard inside the envelope to protect your photo, particularly if mailing a large photograph. If it becomes creased during transport, the crease may show in your Keepsake or Commemorative.
Put your name, address, email, and order number in with your photograph, so we know which order it belongs to.
If paying by check or money order, enclose it with your photo or graphic.

If your photo is black and white, do you want it "antiqued" which means given a brownish tone?	Yes, antique it. No, keep photo in black and white. This doesn't apply.
If keeping photo in black and white, or sending a color photo, family crest, or graphic, we will adjust text and border colors to enhance your photo.	Yes, artist can select colors to match text/border to photo. No, keep text/border colors as they appear on the Keepsake that I ordered. No, prefer specific main color listed below.
OPTIONAL: Name the main color for text or border you wish to match in your photo, such as:	Dark green like grass Fluffy is sitting on -OR- Not in picture, but want Purple anyway -OR- Sending details with business logo Note: Light colors like yellow, sky blue, or light pink will not show up well on white porcelain.
On your order form, you indicated your preference for cropping and zooming in on your photo. Let us know if you have further instructions, such as: "We want Fluffy and the woman holding her centered in picture" OR "We want Fluffy only - please paint out background and people around her like in Keepsake example" Give any further details in the box below.
